Chi Alpha – Helping Students Express their Faith

By Megan Larsen, Jordan Martin, Sean Newell, Mackenzie Schwenke

Chi Alpha, a student ministry at Iowa Central Community College, focuses on helping students express their faith.

Along with meeting weekly for worship, Chi Alpha Director Zach Ziffer coordinates outreaches for members to practice their faith and give back to the community.

“I find that the best way to plan an outreach or coordinate something is ask ourselves and ask the students and each other, ‘what’s something in need that you see; what’s something that needs fixed; what’s something that can be helped?’” says Ziffer.

The Chi Alpha members also like to plan events around campus, like handing out snacks to students between classes. This helps them practice their faith as well as bring awareness to Chi Alpha.

“One of our great events that we love to see is somehow reaching students right where they’re at, at this moment in time.”

Chi Alpha meets every Thursday at 7 pm in the Triton Cafeteria at Iowa Central.
